Process

These 'working drawings' have become an important part of my drawing process. They develop in a reciprocal way alongside their larger counterparts, doing the work of recording references, testing and documenting concepts, compositions and language.

These are a remnant of my architectural education, where the working drawing develops, tests, notates, and archives. In the end it is a record of the journey.

References

While many references are obscured or lost in these early working drawings, the following references survive on the drawing:

"There is still a story in my lungs" is an untitled one-line poem in Alison Malee’s This is the Journey (Andrews McMeel Publishing, 2019) p82.

"Grace-filled and riotous" is an excerpt from an untitled poem in Alison Malee’s This is the Journey (Andrews McMeel Publishing, 2019) p95.

"Listen for the sound" is a lyric from the medley "Killer + The Sound" performed by Phoebe Bridgers and Noah Gunderson, the lyric comes from "The Sound" written by Noah Gunderson.
