Process
This large-scale work was started in early 2023, emerging with a hovering elliptical form that remained relatively intact - if not divided - until it was completed in mid-2024.
The drawing brings together four recurring elements in my recent works: the orb (as moon and sun); the semi-circle as threshold and shadow; poetry and the hand-written word; and the body, exposed and expansive.
These elements hold a kind of mystery, and become motifs that gather meaning for me - and others I hope - over time without being explicit.
The drawing became an anchor for a series of my drawings exhibited at Small fire, my hand at Landslide Gallery in August 2024.
